Huawei and STMicroelectronics design chips_Xiaomi ranks first in India's Q1 mobile phone sales

On April 28, according to the Nikkei News report, Huawei, China's largest communications manufacturer, will work with STMicroelectronics to jointly develop chips. In addition to smartphones, it will also involve chip development in the automotive field such as autonomous driving.

According to sources, STMicroelectronics is now only Huawei's chip supplier. The joint chip development began as early as 2019. Neither party has publicly announced it. People familiar with the matter said that the first joint development project is mobile-related chips for Huawei's Honor series smartphones.

STMicroelectronics produces professional gyroscopes, accelerometers, motion, optics and imaging sensor chips, and is also a leading automotive chip supplier.

In addition, according to Nikkei Asian Review, citing sources familiar with the matter, Huawei will be able to obtain software products from American companies such as Synopsys and Cadence after the cooperation with STMicroelectronics, which will help Huawei respond to US restrictions.

Neither Huawei nor STMicroelectronics have commented on the news of joint development of chips.
