Calculation of IC capacity occupied by voice
The IC space occupied by the sound is mainly determined by the sound length, sampling, and compression rate.
4BIT IC adopts ADPCM compression method, capacity = sampling frequency * seconds * compression bit, generally we use 4bit compression. For example: 6K sampling 4bit compression: the space occupied by 1 second is: 6K*1* 4bit=24K(Bit), so I won’t introduce it in detail.
DSP IC generally uses Audio32 compression. This is very space-saving. Capacity = sampling frequency * seconds * compression / 16K, for example: 16K sampling 16K compression: 1S capacity = 16K * 1 * 16K/16K = 16K (Bit), but this compression will affect the sound quality, so it can't be done very well sound quality.
Introduction to voice IC sound capacity
The number of seconds when 6K sampling is used is marked in most names of voice ICs. For example: SNC27200, SNC36150, etc.; the red part represents the number of seconds when the IC can store the lowest compression of 6K sound. However, the sound quality of 6k sampled sound will not be very good, so 6K is rarely used for playback. Generally, we use 8K or higher. The actual length of sound that can be stored is: 6*IC seconds/actually used samples. So if 8K sampling is used, SNC27060 can hold 6*60/8=45S.
Generally, the length of the customer’s voice is first known: IC seconds required = original sound seconds * actual sampling / 6K, for example, if the customer provides a 10S voice, if we sample at 8K, IC seconds are required = 10*8/6= 13.3s, then we have to choose an IC higher than 13.3s, namely SNC26016
If the customer does not require the sound quality, the default 12K sample evaluation is generally used. If the evaluated matrix is not suitable, it can be reduced appropriately. If there are many functions during evaluation, you need to reserve a few seconds for the software to use.
The voice lengths mentioned above are all WAV voices. If MID is more professional, it takes up different space according to the different timbres. It is best for customers to send specific voice requirements to us for detailed evaluation.
When there is a lot of sound (generally more than 250S), you can choose voice IC+SPI Flash. When there are so many sounds that ordinary voice IC SPI can't fit in, you can use DSP + SPI. If you still can't fit in, DSP+NandFlash
